I know what you are thinking, because I was thinking the same thing… why would I put on a pair of boots that will immediately get dirty and will blend in with the snow? To tell you the truth, I still have no idea. The only thing I can tell you is that for some reason I have been LOVING my MIA boots.
Lately there has been a serious snowstorm in Chicago… like 7 inches to be exact. I figured why not try to wear these white boots in the middle of a snow storm!? Honestly… I couldn’t be happier with my decision. The boots are made of Lycra, which is a similar material to work out clothes. Not only is this material form fitting and shiny, it is SO EASY to clean. After trudging the streets of Chicago this weekend, I took one baby wipe to them and it cleaned ALL the salt and slush off no problem!!
As for styling, I was so skeptical on wearing white. I mean the whole you cannot wear white after Labor Day saying actually affects me. I feel like it comes a time in the season where I cannot wear white jean. Naturally, I followed suite with my shoes as well. Trying to put that aside, I decided to go for it, because why not!?
As a proud owner of mostly black clothes, I decided to keep it neutral on the top to really draw attention to the white boots. With a black bell-sleeved blouse by Carmen, I threw over a patterned vest by DR2 by Daniel Rainn to carry the white to the top of my outfit.
My next look included one of my favorite coats in the winter. This Kenneth Cole fur jacket is one of my FAVORITE pickups from this past season. Pairing it again with my Kancan light washed ripped jeans, it created a neutral and simple look with a little extra flair.
So, I would say my experiment with white boots this winter definitely was a success. Not only did it get me out of my shoe comfort zone, but it is made out of a material that is practical to trudge around the city with! White boots in the winter? I say…WIN.
